Pure Pleasure

She acts like summer and walks like rain
Reminds me that there's time to change, hey, hey
Since the return from her stay on the moon
She listens like spring and she talks like June, hey, hey

Yesterday I went out with Ricki and Jessie to Original Joe's, where the food was excellent but the skirts are short by regulation, and then we went to Jerry's for ice cream. Or in my case, Blood Orange Sorbet, which is a totally acceptable and milk-free alternative. I had a camera, which is rare for me lately, and resulted in some playfulness.

Afterwards Ricki and I joined another subset of our group of friends to see Up, a really, really sweet and awesome movie. I may have cried. *shifty eyes* It was so sweet and beautiful and funny. Loved it.

Today was a great day. I went out for lunch with my friend Michael at a little place near mine called La Bamba, where their guacamole was totally fantastic and I really enjoyed my meal and our conversation. Tonight I had invited my friends Shane and Mattea to come out to Care Group, where we had a spectacular potluck and a hot tub party with a full contingent of Care Group members and foods. We snacked on watermelon, made perfect marshmallows over a fire, swung in the hammocks... Shane and Mattea and I were happy to overstay our welcome in the hot tub and were the last ones out, having figured out how to use the stereo. It was bliss. Shane and Mattea enjoyed themselves and may have had some good news for a stressful situation. Neither Mattea nor I brought cameras, and nobody else did either, which is unfortunate. I have really good memories of tonight that I'm planning to keep for a long time, but not in photo format...

Hope dangles on a string
Like slow-spinning redemption
I am flawed, but I am cleaning up so well

I have a sweet tan. The trees have flowered and bloomed and brought forth leaves to the sun, and summer is in full swing. I am blissfully happy. You can tell this because I am always singing. Not just when music is on, but I start singing all the time. This is a level of happiness I've never before reached. I really love my life right in this moment. I have a lot of freedom while working at home (while housesitting) just now in terms of my time, and I'm enjoying sitting on my front step in the shade of a hot day with my laptop. I'm going to get Garrett to pick up my bike sometime this weekend so I can go biking with friends.

I think this is shaping up to be the best summer of my life.

Everything is going our way
Everything is just as we planned
This is our future, from what we've heard...

  • Current Mood: happy <3
  • Current Music: Lots of classics from my collection
I watched Up today as well, with Donovan. Although he downloaded it. Did you see it in 3D? Which part did you cry at? I laughed so much; it was a great movie.

I was going to ask you if you could teach me. Um. The drum thingy. Starts with a J. I really should stop forgetting words. If you ever have any time this summer I would appreciate that greatly!

Also, I've decided I'd like to be a flight attendant when I get back from Thailand. If only until the school year. : )

You missed some good ultimate frisbee, ditcher!
I saw it in 3D. It was awesome.

I play djembe by ear, I was a percussionist in high school and University band, but that's all the experience I've got. So I can't really teach you, but someone else might be able to?

I went out with friends I haven't gone out with much, I don't feel bad at all about ditching this time, sorry. We have all summer...
You could teach me what you know. Who the heck else would I learn from?! I'm just kidding about Wednesday. And yes, we do have all summer. Um, has Billy contacted you about Sunday?
See, the thing is, I don't KNOW anything. That's what "by ear" means. I can play beats by ear, but I can't teach you how to do that because nobody ever taught me that, I just innately know how. So don't count on me.

Billy said something about just showing up on Sunday afternoon to sing. Maybe Facebook him?
It's sooo awesome to hear you're having such a great time, albeit without me :( Keep singing!
